Statement on the efficacy of Mikro Quat Classic against Coronavirus
Coronaviruses are enveloped viruses causing human infections. Two different guidelines are available to support efficacy of disinfectants against enveloped viruses: EN 14476, using Vacciniavirus as a surrogate virus and a guideline of the German Society for the Prevention of Virus Disease (DVV) using Vacciniavirus and Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) as surrogate viruses.
According to guidance of the European Centers for Disease Control1) a solution of 0.05% benzalkonium chloride can be used as an effective disinfectant against Coronavirus.
Mikro Quat classic contains 8% (w/w) benzalkonium chloride. In addition to that it contains 1% Didecyldimethylammonium chloride as an active ingredient. The latter does not interfere with benzalkonium chloride. Both active have the same mode of action and have an additive effect.

Based on the above information and guideline it is concluded that Mikro Quat classic can be used as a disinfectant to inactivate Coronavirus at the minimum recommended bactericidal concentration of 0.75% with a contact time of 5 min.
